Revenue exposure calculator

Put your numbers on the enquiry gap.

Explore the gross monthly work that may be exposed when enquiries do not receive a useful next step. The result is arithmetic based only on your inputs—not measured loss, profit, or a forecast.

Transparent formula

Three inputs. No borrowed benchmark.

Potential monthly work exposed equals:

  • Missed enquiries each month
  • Multiplied by average gross job value
  • Multiplied by your assumed booking share

Use a conservative assumption and compare it with actual outcomes over time.

Input 01Your missed enquiries
Input 02Your average job value
Input 03Your booking assumption
OutputA scenario—not a promise

Use your assumptions

Estimate potential monthly work exposed.

Start with a recent month you can verify. Count only distinct enquiries and use gross job value—not profit, lifetime value, or hoped-for upsells.

Potential monthly work exposed $1,350

At your average job value, one job equals approximately 4.6 months of Halie’s $97 base subscription, before usage and tax. This is a price comparison, not ROI.

Formula: missed enquiries × average gross job value × assumed booking share. The default 25% is an example setting, not an industry benchmark. Change it to an assumption you can defend.

Methodology

Choose inputs you can explain.

The calculation becomes more useful when every number has a source. Keep a note of the period, exclusions, and assumption you used so you can compare it with later data.

  1. 01

    Count missed enquiries

Choose one completed month. Count distinct calls, forms, chats, or messages that reached the business but did not receive the useful next step your process requires. Do not count spam, duplicates, existing support requests, or people outside your service area.

    • Use one period
    • Remove duplicates
    • Document exclusions
  2. 02

    Calculate average gross job value

Use completed jobs from the same kind of enquiry where possible. Divide gross job revenue by completed jobs. This is revenue before costs—not profit or cash you would necessarily keep.

    • Prefer completed work
    • Match the service mix
    • Do not use lifetime value
  3. 03

    Set an assumed booking share

If you have historical data, use the share of comparable, qualified enquiries that actually booked. If you do not, choose a deliberately conservative scenario and label it as an assumption.

    • Use comparable leads
    • Start conservative
    • Label the assumption
  4. 04

    Interpret the output correctly

The result is gross work potentially exposed under the scenario. It does not prove those enquiries would have booked, that Halie would recover them, or that completed work would equal the estimate.

    • Not measured loss
    • Not profit
    • Not guaranteed recovery

Worked example

See exactly what the number means.

This example uses the calculator’s starting values only to demonstrate the arithmetic. It is not a typical-business benchmark.

01 · Volume

12 missed enquiries

A business identifies 12 distinct, relevant enquiries that did not receive its defined next step during one month.

02 · Value

$450 per job

Comparable completed jobs averaged $450 in gross revenue before labor, materials, fees, tax, and other costs.

03 · Assumption

25% might book

The business chooses a 25% scenario. This is an assumption for the example, not a claim about likely conversion.

04 · Arithmetic

12 × $450 × 25%

The inputs produce $1,350 in potential monthly gross work exposed.

05 · Boundary

Not $1,350 “lost”

The calculator cannot establish intent, availability, close rate, completion, margin, or whether a different response would change the outcome.

06 · Next step

Measure the handoff

Track comparable enquiries, useful replies, bookings, and completed work after improving the process. Use observed results to replace assumptions.

Use the result responsibly

Treat it as a question worth investigating.

The number is most useful as a prompt to audit the workflow—not as a business case built on assumed revenue.

  1. 01

    Save the inputs

Record the month, source data, exclusions, and booking assumption.

  2. 02

    Trace real enquiries

Follow a sample from arrival through response, booking, and completion.

  3. 03

    Fix one handoff

Clarify ownership, response wording, or the next action.

  4. 04

    Test the workflow

Check replies, exceptions, opt-outs, and human takeover before launch.

  5. 05

    Replace assumptions

Compare later outcomes with the baseline using the same definitions.
